(ages 20 and 30). A planning committee organizes social events twice
a month to help connect young adults with each other for both social
and professional networking opportunities as well as absorption

In Between,
Group exhibit, The exhibition leaves from this point of departure and seeks to
metaphorically set up its arena of activity between the clear terms and the defined
boundaries, or in other words, in-between. This common phrase, which we often
use in passing, makes room in the language to the twilight state that is neither here
nor there, whether it refers to a personal state, a national state, an existential state,
or a mind set, or to describe a time of transition, transience, or instability.
The works featured in this exhibition summon clashes, produce paradoxical states,
and push the boundaries to their limits, in the purpose of challenging the values
that establish the heterotopian structures and the social-cultural constructs in
which we operate. The twenty four artists participating in the exhibition (and
its two curators) wish, if only for one moment, not to commit to an existence under
any conventions, but rather ما بين وبين. Curators: Yeala Hazut and Farid Abu

Museum without Walls, a close-up of local art, along the narrow streets of Wadi
Nisnas and its neighborhood galleries. The Museum without Walls is a municipal
space, home-neighborhood-community, serving as a public venue in which to
exhibit open artistic ventures, combining permanent and temporary exhibitions.
In the open-space neighborhood exhibit, walls, roofs, courtyards and public areas
transform into exhibition sites and function as museum space in where art is
exhibited. Along the way more than 60 forms of artwork are presented, while
reacting and interacting with the surroundings on both an architectural and
material-based level, while most of the work has been created especially for its
unique locale.
The art deals with tolerance, promoting the Arab-Jewish multi-cultural dialogue,
an integral part of the heritage of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood, which has managed to maintain its character as an Arab
neighborhood, both Moslem and Christian, is located in the center of the historical
city and is characterized by its 3-4 story buildings with their heavy stone facades, its
narrow alleys and stairs that lead the way to and from adjacent neighborhoods.
Beit HaGefen offers guided tours of the Beit HaGefen galleries and the surrounding
area, where In Between, a group artistic endeavor, will be exhibited.
The tour of the galleries and the neighboring streets provides the visitor an
opportunity to experience candid interaction with the unique urban landscape of
the Wadi, its residents, buildings, the Mediterranean market, art, and more.
The tours will be conducted in Hebrew. English and Arabic-speaking tours will be
provided upon special request only.

HAIFA ENGLISH THEATRE
Call for People Who Want to Act or Direct

Perhaps you’ve always had the fantasy of yourself
appearing on stage. Maybe you’ve wanted to direct a
play, but have never had the opportunity. Or, you’d
really like to act, but are nervous about appearing in
front of an audience. Well, BANISH THOSE FEARS
FOREVER! The HAIFA ENGLISH THEATRE,
which has long been in the business of getting people
to perform fearlessly on the stage, has created a
workshop just for you. No auditions are required for
this workshop and ALL ARE WELCOME!! There's a
great play – it ran for four and a half years on
Broadway a while back – which workshop attendees
will rehearse and perform WITHOUT AN
AUDIENCE!! (except for ourselves). Of course, if we
feel the urge later on, we'll stage it for all the world to
see! But we're getting ahead of ourselves. This
workshop is for potential actors, directors, stage
managers, prompts, makeup artists, set designers, voice,
music, dance, sound and lighting people – the whole
theatre shebang\. The play has two characters—a man
and a woman, who meet on a fixed day and at a fixed
place every ear for 25 years. In the workshop, two
different actors with perform each scene. Different
individuals will direct each of the six scenes. We will
spend two weekly sessions on each scene, for a total of
12 weeks. Veteran HET actor-director Murray
Rosovsky, will direct the workshop.
The initial session will be Monday 6 January 2014 at
19:30 at Murray’s place in Haifa and will include a
read-through of the play and assignment of both acting
and non-acting tasks. The dates of the following
meetings will be agreed upon by the workshop
participants.
