On October 12, the 35th edition of the Haifa International Film Festival will start. The Festival will
screen no less than 15 French films this year and will receive prestigious guests from France, thanks
to the support of the French Institute of Israel, partner of the event. Festival guests of honor, French
director Claude Lelouch and his favorite actress Anouk Aimée, will present The most beautiful years
of a life, screened  on October 16 as part of a "French day" proposed by the Festival.
Until  October 21, the Israeli public can discover or re-discover 15 French films, or made in
co-production with France, selected by the Festival, including Alice and the Mayor, by Nicolas Pariser
with Fabrice Luchini and Anaïs Demoustier, awarded at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes this year,
or the second film by Nicolas Bedos as director, La belle époque, with Daniel Auteuil, Guillaume
Canet and Doria Tillier, nominated at the Cannes Film Festival in the feature film category - out of
competition. Blaise Harrison's film, Particules, is also part of the selection: the film, worried about the
impact on the environment of a powerful particle accelerator located near the French-Swiss border,
has retained the attention of professionals in Cannes with 5 nominations in different categories
including the Camera d'Or.
Noteworthy are the screenings of Cédric Kahn's latest films, Fête de famille, with Catherine Deneuve
and Emmanuelle Bercot, and André Téchiné, L'Adieu à la nuit, in which Muriel (Catherine Deneuve)
discovers that her grandson is preparing to join a terrorist group in Syria.
Not to be missed, the film by Laurent Heynemann, I dream only of you, screened in preview because
the film is not released in France yet: the history, in 1940 France, of the destiny of Jeanne
Reichenbach who decides to link her life to that of Leon Blum, the great name of French socialism.
In this period of school holidays, the festival does not forget the young audience and will propose to
discover the movie Rémi without family, by Antoine Blossier.
